The Chagatay language, once a widely used language in the
middle-eastern part of the Mongol empire, now stands as nothing more than a
language learned for the sake of preserving tradition. However, this language
was once the most popular language among the people of the empire, after
being used by the Khan emperor Chagatay and continuing to be used through the
rule of Timerlane. Through Chagatay’s blend of the elements of Turkish, Persian
and Arabic languages, the empire created a fusion of these cultures. Learn more
about Chagatay’s history and adaptation by exploring our site.
